Attorney Sheila Burnett was born and raised in Texas. Sheila Burnett attended undergraduate at the University of Oklahoma. Upon graduation, Sheila Burnett moved to Galveston, Texas, where she became an elementary school teacher. Sheila Burnett later obtained her JD at South Texas College of Law. During law school, Mrs. Burnett participated in numerous trial competitions and developed a passion for litigation. Because of this passion, Mrs. Burnett worked in Harris County Prosecutor’s Office and the Fort Bend County Prosecutor’s Office while earning her law degree.After graduating from law school, Mrs. Burnett became an Assistant District Attorney for Fort Bend County. During her tenure as a trial Prosecutor, Mrs. Burnett tried to a jury a range of misdemeanor, juvenile and felony cases. Mrs. Burnett focused much of her Assistant District Attorney career practicing juvenile law. Mrs. Burnett uses that information and training she obtained in her juvenile criminal defense career today.Mrs. Burnett is currently on the Board for the Fort Bend Young Lawyers, a Member of the Harris County Criminal Lawyers Association, and a Member of the Fort Bend County Criminal Defense Lawyers Association.
Mrs. Burnett is a recurring speaker for the Fort Bend County Juvenile Legal Awareness Workshop where she informs parents and juveniles of their rights and options after being charged with a juvenile offense.
